I’m proud to say Larry Correia is a friend of mine. Most of the world knows him as a large bear of a man who happens to be the favorite science fiction author of many people, myself included. But he is also one of the strongest modern voices for gun owners’ civil rights.

I’ve just completed my review copy of his new book, “In Defense of the Second Amendment,” and I have to say it’s outstanding. Larry uses nuclear grade Common Sense to destroy the arguments of the prohibitionists. The book finishes with many pages of citations from authoritative sources which support his points.

I wish every legislator in every state, and every Representative and Senator in the Capitol would read it. Correia’s gift as a writer is that it sounds as if someone credible is talking to you one on one, and giving you irrefutable facts, which in this case are backed up by page after page of citations.  Plain talk and irrefutable, documentable truths delivered in a clear style that may be too frank for snowflakes, but understandable to anyone with an IQ above room temperature who hasn’t been brainwashed by identity politics.

This is the kind of book I’d like to see in the hands of everyone who hasn’t already locked themselves into an ideology on one side or the other of this polarized social issue.

And, for those of us who’ve already looked at both sides and taken the pro-gun side, well…

Larry admits that if we read it, he’s singing to the choir.

But as a member of that choir, I for one think he’s singing the Song of Our People, and I really like the way he carries the tune.

  1. This is bit off topic, but I thought that I would link to this opinion piece. It is still 2A related.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/the-nra-has-won/ar-AA16QpbP?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=8e0db2967cc440549bbc4e640cfc7330

This is the mindset of the fanatic Left. The author “beats his breast” in outrage even as he seeks to dance in the blood of the latest murder victims. California has a vast array of unconstitutional gun control laws on the books. These recent murders merely illustrate their failures. Yet, the author bitterly blames the NRA and legal gun-owners because we fight against taking further steps down this path of failure.

The author names himself as “enlightened”. The mindset of the Left is on full display. Truly, it is as the Good Book says:

Proverbs 12:15 – ” The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.”

Perhaps I should be more understanding. Do you blame a sheep for being a sheep? A herd human takes comfort in always being the victim. They are always the victims of poverty, racism, sexism, addiction, child abuse, or some other such exterior social force. Victims never have to take individual responsibility. I suppose that herd humans are really attracted to that idea. No matter what they do, it is never really their fault. Rather, they remain the eternal victims of society.

Being a Leftist means that you never have to say that you are sorry.

Thus, the blame for violence always lies elsewhere. It is gun violence, or knife violence (in the UK), or gang violence or some other such thing. It is never, never, never plain old human violence.

The idea that one can control human violence by regulating an external object is ridiculous. If you go back a thousand years, you enter a world where firearms did not exist. Was it a peaceful paradise? No, it was even more violent than today’s world. Look at the Viking Raids. Look at the campaigns of Genghis Khan. Was that peace?

However, the setting that makes a person into a herd human is deep in the subconscious mind. Once a person is set into “Herd Human Mode”, then logic or reason cannot flip that switch and turn them back into a Liberty Human. Once the sheep DNA takes hold, it is too late to reverse it.

  2. Two of my favorite authors saying that they are each other’s favorite authors…what could be better?

  3. Prior to the advent of firearms, the rule was “the right of the might”.

Physical strength to defend with cutting or bludgeoning weapons was a prerequisite.
Skill with the aforementioned weapons helped … a lot.

Firearms (notably handguns) equalize the playing field.

An elderly man (or woman) may successfully defend their life against deadly threat …. WITHOUT physical strength by using a handgun against a younger, stronger assailant.

The Left doesn’t want this, they desire victims, easy prey for thugs.

They don’t want responsibility for their own safety (nor of their families), they’d rather depend on and place responsibility on government to protect them.

Cowards shirking their responsibilities as citizens and parents.

    • they’d rather depend on and place responsibility on government to protect them.

I’ve heard it said the only difference between a pro gun and an anti gun guy is that the anti gun guy has not yet been assaulted. Pnce he has been, his tune magically changes. Unless he is truly certifiable. In which case he oughtn’t be trusted to go about in public armed anyway.

Come on, Correia needs to sell some books.

Realistically, he will sell books to us and leftists will completely ignore it.

  5. Hard to improve on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s report.
“The conclusion is thus inescapable that the history, concept, and wording of the second amendment to the Constitution of the United States, as well as its interpretation by every major commentator and court in the first half-century after its ratification, indicates that what is protected is an individual right of a private citizen to own and carry firearms in a peaceful manner.”

  6. A bit off topic but here is a passage from Dean Koontz’s new novel, “The House At the End of the World”…

“She mocks herself by using the word armory. Unloaded and propped in one corner are a pistol-grip pump-action 12-gauge shotgun and an AR-15 that is often called an assault rifle by peo- ple who don’t know anything about guns. She also keeps a sub- stantial supply of ammunition for each weapon.”

  7. The 21st Century Minutemen will stand in defense of their sovereign ground. Wherever you go in this nation you can rest assured they are ready. And that fact is the impediment to the totalitarian regime that would roll over the citizenry without the least remorse. They may well be “the new Founding Fathers.”
