When I interviewed Rob Leatham a while back, I asked him how many world championships he had won. It took about thirty seconds to stop and think before he answered. When someone has won the world championship of what he does so many times he’s lost count, it is nature’s way of telling us that when he speaks of that discipline we should really, really listen.
American Handgunner recently resurrected an article I had done years ago about a Leatham class for my Cop Talk column there.
Here’s the article in question.
Go to the range and try some of the drills he shared with us in the class. I’m happy to say Rob Leatham is still in the game, still one of the men to beat at that game all these years later, and a true gentleman and a gifted instructor.
A good friend of mine (former ERT leader) studied under Rob years ago. And it shows.
I’ve met a few people who were Olympic shooters and also on the Australian field rifle team.
Yes they had natural talent but all of them practiced a lot. One used to shoulder and dry fire rifle a minimum of a 1000 times per night. Used TV shows as aiming points sometimes. After working all day, helping with kids etc.
Another one did the same after working on his farm all day. He also had his own 1/2 mile range.
All of them were nice helpful people to a very young me.
Is the trigger guard missing on the firearm he is holding???
