Much to be grateful for. Wonderful family members, great friends, great students.

We’ve dodged some weather bullets. Not one but two hurricanes, each of which according to weather service predictions had our home county in the crosshairs.  Each diverted at the last moment, no harm done at our end. Our hearts go out to those who weren’t so fortunate.

The Evil Princess and I have much to be thankful for.  We’ll spend Thanksgiving with friends. Probably an “open carry” day in our circle.  The EP might even wear her “barbecue gun.” The concept is “something special,” signifying that you are with people you consider special.

We wish you all a restorative holiday weekend, and hope that you too have much for which to be thankful.

  1. Mas, I’m thankful I found you when I started my training. You have enriched and empowered so many of us through the years. Enjoy you holidays immensely.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving Mas. My wife of 54 yrs, our only child and I are
together and thankful to be so. A traditional Thanksgiving dinner is
in store for celebration. Being the same age as you, I’m sure you have
many friends and relatives who will be with us in memory only.
God bless you and yours and thank you for all you do.

  3. Thanks to you I joined the Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network. The included books and videos are incredible tools as much as the firearms I carry.

The piece of mind I have now with ACLDN is what I’m thankful for. Plus, I’ve been reading your books for almost 40 years now and am grateful for your leadership in self-defense training.

    • Paul, a few years ago I gave her a beautifully engraved, ivory-stocked Smith & Wesson Chief Special Airweight, pre-Model 37. She wears it on special occasions and even has a transparent Kydex holster in which to show it off.

  4. Hopefully, we all can find much to be thankful for “because of” and even “in spite of.”

    Best wishes!

  5. a TRANSPARENT holster? oh dear me… talk about a gun “flasher!”

enjoy this holiday while we can still have it and if you deep fry yer bird, have a fire extinguisher on standby…

  6. Thanks for all you do, sir.
I am thankful that I was able to attend MAG80 that past summer — and I’ll get my AAR up one of these days! — and hope to be able to train with you more in the future.
Who knows, maybe I’ll be able to convince She Who Must Be Obeyed to take MAG40 next summer…

  7. Mas, thank you for this website, and for your patience and forbearance with opinions manifold. I have spent enough time in a couple of foreign countries to appreciate how fortunate Americans are to have the Second Amendment to our unique Constitution. Our freedom is deceptively fragile, and freedom of expression of the kind that obtains here is core to promoting and preserving the kind of liberty that really best engenders peace and sanity. The wolves of tyranny are always lurking and prowling while pretending to be beneficial sheep, but won’t prevail against the light of open discussion.

  8. Happy Thanksgiving, Mas! We are truly blessed. Here’s also wishing you and all your readers/students a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! And to Herman, Leischen, Steve, Stacy and the rest of the Live Oak crew.

  9. Yes, we still have much to be thankful for in this country. I know that, in writing on this blog, I sometimes sound like “Mr. Doom & Gloom”. The numerous problems that we face, as a nation, do get me down at times.

However, I am not blind to the fact that Americans are still better off than 80% of the rest of mankind. The fact that millions are flocking to take advantage of the democrat’s open border is proof that America is still a good place compared with the countries that these people are leaving.

An armed population is a free population. How do you tell a free person from a slave? The free person is armed. The slave is disarmed. Thus, the purpose of firearms-prohibition (AKA gun control) is to enslave the people by disarming them. It is as simple as that!

Don’t believe the narrative that firearms-prohibition is about crime control or reducing mass shootings. That is the purest propaganda ever published in the history of the World! The Left cares nothing about crime. They are criminals themselves. They are busy pushing for no-cash bail, the early release of hardened criminals (their comrades) from prison, and to defund the police. With these ideals, does anyone truly believe they care about crime or protecting the people? Only a fool would believe such lies and propaganda.

The only thing the Left cares about is POWER and the enslavement of the PEOPLE under their RULE. They are totalitarians, pure and simple. Yet, it still amazes me how many gullible people fall for their narratives and schemes. No doubt, the Left’s programs of indoctrination and propaganda, from cradle to grave, is hard to resist for many people. It is so unrelenting!

We can be grateful for this: Americans are still the most heavily armed people on the face of the earth. Thus, we are still a free population. In addition, the trends in this area are most favorable. See this news story:

    • Mas is a huge proponent of reading, and I agree. If you haven’t already, you need to read Cloward and Piven, Herbert Marcuse, Saul Alinski, any books about the communist revolutions in Russia, China, Cambodia, Cuba, and Venezuela. Read The Gulag Archipelago. Read about the genocide of the Armenians, the Jews, the Rwandans and the Syrians. You’ll understand exactly what the leaders of the left are up to.

  10. Happy belated Thanksgiving! And thanks for the tidbit…like several others, the transparent holster concept caught my attention. Ironically, my mind sees it as the solution to a concealment challenge…

I bought a holster I like, but never use, because in the event of an emergency, I can’t (easily) reholster to it. But if my belt held a transparent owb, combined with a shirt-jacket… even if someone saw it, they probably would have no idea what it was. And it would be empty, unless it was needed to reholster.

I have not finished analyzing all the pros and cons, but it is an interesting tool for consideration.

    • Transparent Kydex is not invisible. Without the gun in it, the shape of it clearly is that of a handgun holster. The function of transparent Kydex is simply to show off the engraving on the gun it holds.
