A few years ago at the SHOT Show, I met an entrepreneur named Scott Jordan. He had come up with the Scott-E line, clothing designed for folks who carry sophisticated electronic gear…which turns out to be clothing that’s remarkably effective for carrying gun gear, too.
Pockets for iPhones. Tunnels through the clothing for chargers. He’s made stuff with flip-down solar panels over the shoulders to feed the chargers!
All way more than a Luddite like yours truly can handle…but all the ingenious little pockets discreetly and securely hide everything from passports to spare keys to a stash of cash…and, of course, things like pocket pistols and ammo strips and spare magazines for fighting-size handguns.
www.scottevest.com is the place to order – and remember, with only nine or so shopping days left, shipping time is running out.
I’ve been very happy with the quality and comfort of Scott’s product. I’m wearing one of his sport shirts as I write this…feels like UnderArmour, only with a place to hide stuff.
Shooters, gun geeks, and just ordinary techno-yuppies should love the Scott-E-Vest product. All those non-gunners in your life need someplace to put their iPhones, too.
And, if anyone has been making Yuppie jokes because you carry an iPhone, get a MagPul carrier for it from magpul.com.
When your iPhone is in a MagPul carrier AND in a Scott-E-Vest…well, that just changes everything…
ScottE clothing is low profile and functional…
…with more useful hidden pockets than most folks can use.
Cure a friend of the heartbreak of yuppiedom, and give them a MagPul carrier for their iPhone!
Mas,
Last night, while I was on Amazon looking for the Grant Cunningham book you recommended, I was very surprised to discover that you have a new book of your own which was just released a couple of days ago that, apparently, you were too modest to mention in the blog about things that would make good Christmas presents.
For those who haven’t heard, it’s titled, COMBAT SHOOTING WITH MASSAD AYOOB. Needless to say, I ordered it for myself right away. From what I can see, it looks like a great book, comparable to your GUN DIGEST BOOK OF CONCEALED CARRY, which is by far the best book I’ve ever read on that subject. I’ve given several copies of that book to friends & relatives as presents & no doubt I’ll do the same with COMBAT SHOOTING.
As a longtime admirer of your writing in both books & magazines (& as a former student of yours), I have to say that it’s pretty exciting to be getting a new book written by you in time for Christmas. Incidentally, Amazon is selling it for only $15.34 & if you add something else to your order, like the Grant Cunningham book (or another copy of any of your books), so that the order totals more than $25, you can get free shipping. That’s what I did.
Anyway, thanks for writing it & I look forward to reading it during the holidays. I only wrote this because I’m sure that there are a lot of readers out there who will be as interested in this as I am.
“all the ingenious little pockets discreetly and securely hide everything”
Mas, I wear only jackets from my local stores with the normal complement of pockets, AND I STILL DO THE MACARENA DANCE TRYING TO FIND MY CAR KEYS ! Checking the top pockets, lower pockets, inside pockets, crossing hands, second check. I could easily see myself losing some gun component in the myriad of hiding places. “hold on mister bad guy…where did I put that spare magazine?, ah that’s where the garage opener was !”
Wow, I’m ahead of the Mas curve! I love my ScottEVest clothing and I recommend the Magpul iPhone case to everyone.
Thanks for your mention of Scottevest. I have been considering one, but criticisms of quality had me concerned. Your endorsement means a lot to me, so here goes…
And thanks for your participation in the Pro Arms Podcast. I am listening up from the first one, really enjoying the humor, discussion, and your authoritative backgrounging. Thanks!
Do these pieces of clothing sag with a gun in them? Me and the wife are trying to find the best ways to carry decently powerful revolvers. May have to get one of your books. They sound good.
2 thumbs way up for the Magpul iPhone case.
I tried several cases. Some nice (Otterbox), some not so nice (some piece of junk from Verizon), but the Magpul has been the best. The case from Verizon went in the trash, the Otterbox sits in my desk drawer – I use the Magpul case exclusively. PLUS, the Magpul case cost a whopping $10. 🙂
Or a photographer’s vest from any full-service photo store – where you can try on ones for the right size. BTW, the ones around $90-100 really are better than the cheap ones around $50 – and worth it.
Massad, thanks for putting us in your blog! Our Outback jacket is surely one of the best CCW items on the market! See our full line of clothing at http://www.scottevest.com.
The E-Vest looks rather interesting but I’d like to see one in person before buying. Mainly for fit and to see how much it stands out.
The photographer vests and vests like the 5.11 vest just scream CCW. Might just be me but I think those style vests are dead give-aways now. It’s kind of like an unmarked Ford Police Interceptor…it just stands out…
Just curious what the badge is for?
PD badge, Jody, worn when one needs to be identifiable as an officer.
Just as a heads-up, the website ProMotive.com offers a really great military discount on ScottEVest stuff. Bought a blazer from them, love it to death.
