My lovely bride and I wish you and yours the best of holidays, and I’m sure we speak for the rest of the Backwoods Home family as well.

What did you get for Christmas? What did you give? You’re invited to share your experiences of the holiday here.

  1. Merry Christmas Mas and Gail! For Christmas this year I bit the bullet and bought a Zoll AED to round out my first response kit. (Gift to self to help others.) Tourniquets are a lot cheaper! But nothing beats a good shot of electricity when it’s called for.

  2. My wife got me a Holosun He510c gr. And a Victor rifle stock.
I got my wife some new dishes and sewing supplies also hobby supplies.
My son showed up from Illinois and I instructed him on using suppressors. We fired about 250 rounds.

  3. And Merry Christmas to you and your lovely bride Mas. Wife and daughter got me
a Kershaw Livewire Tanto OTF. Wife got a Ninja coffee maker she wanted and
3 sets of sheets in colors she wanted. Daughter got an entire series of hardback
books she has wanted for sometime. Good Christmas for all our family. Daughter’s
been cooking since yesterday and dinner will be a feast. She’s one great cook.
Praying for a Happy New Year. a move back to the Constitution and it’s Bill of Rights
for all of us. I want to thank you for what you do and for stepping up to the plate
as a voice for all of us. Thank you.

  4. It was our first Christmas as empty nesters, so we went a little crazy but without going into debt. One of my open secrets is that I love to write with a fountain pen, thanks to a beloved high school history teacher who had escaped from East Germany and taught history when he got to Canada. So, mommy got me one of the nicest I have ever had plus two more, and enough different inks to last quite some time!

  5. Merry Christmas Mas, to you and your lovely bride. Wife got me a Holoson green dot for my Sig P365XL and a Burris handgun scope for my Performance Center 629 44 Magnum Hunter. My bride is getting Bling.

  6. The gift of friends, food ammunition and a beautiful, uncharacteristically mild Christmas Day to run some drills in the backyard. It’s really what I wanted and all I needed.

I need to work on long range (25+ yd) precision handgunning! Badly!

  7. The wife and I exchanged Christmas cards and have spent a wonderful holiday together. We stopped exchanging gifts that neither of us really needed and buy what we want throughout the year.
Merry Christmas to you and your family

  8. Got myself another expensive guitar (#23). Didn’t need one but… the ad popped up and…0% financing for 48 months. I’ve learned that whenever one of the big music retailers offers 0% for 48 months, I end up with another fine guitar. Seem silly? Just imagine if gun retailers offered 0% financing for 48 months on Barrett .50 cals, how many they would sell!

Merry Christmas to you and yours MAS. Thanks for what you do. It is very much appreciated.

    Best,

    MP

  9. Aside from small stuff, the best gifts my wife and I got were an IRL visit from daughter no. 1, a Skype from daughter no. 2 and my twin grandkids, and a Skype hello from my fine son-in-law when he got home from work.

  10. I bought the great neices and nephews, who are all a few years old at most, steel beakers with their name and dates of birth engraved and plenty of room for more. We had a small glass for Santas sherry we used to leave out and inevitably the glass got broke. Now hopefully we have family ones they can hand down.

With the timing that has made me a legend I posted the following on the diesel thread just before Mas created this one:
    Merry Christmas everybody!
Thanks for this year. As a left winger it’s been great to have conservatives who it’s posssible to debate with.I think your arguments are wrong. But they ARE arguments; not invention backed up by abuse that passes for discussion on most of the net!

  11. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you & to your family, Mas, as well as to everyone who reads and/or contributes to this websight. I wish you all good health, happiness, & prosperity in 2024!!!

One thing of possible interest that I gave to my brother for Christmas this year is a Rothco 3 Season Concealed Carry Jacket. It’s exterior looks like an ordinary cotton canvas jacket, but inside it contains two large heavily lined padded pockets (one on each side for left or right handed shooters) designed for carrying virtually any type of handgun without printing. The pockets are deep enough to hold large semi-autos or revolvers (including a S&W Model 29 w/6″ barrel), but the top front corner of each pocket is secured with Velcro so that by folding down that corner it is easier to access smaller firearms. Above these interior pockets are four (2 on each side) horizontal magazine pockets with Velcro flaps, which can also be used to carry knives or other EDC items. The jacket also has two deep, zippered exterior side pockets which are unlined, but are large enough to carry many compact semi-autos or revolvers using a pocket holster so that the wearer can surreptitiously place his hand on the gun if danger appears to be imminent. In addition, the main zipper on the front of the jacket is reversible to allow easier access to a gun carried in a belt holster. My only complaint with these jackets is that the heavy duty metal front zipper is a little rough to zip up & down (they are all like that), but that can be cured by rubbing ChapStick or some other kind of non-staining zipper lube on it from time to time when needed.

I’m recommending this because I have found it to be a great solution for concealed carry, especially when you cannot, or do not want to, carry a gun in a belt holster, such as when you are suffering from back pain, or if you want to carry more than one gun, or to enable you to carry a gun with an attached light or laser that you cannot find a holster for. It’s a very versatile jacket that is comfortable in the 30-68 degree temperature range. I use mine frequently as a range jacket so that I don’t have to switch holsters every time I want to shoot multiple guns up close at targets downrange. The extra pockets also make it an excellent travel jacket.

I don’t mean to sound like an advertisement, but I suspect that some of you, like me, have been looking for something like this for a long time & could benefit from having one. They are available from multiple sellers online so you can search for them on Google or Amazon, although many sizes & colors are hard to get right now, but more will be available in the spring.

BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL & thank you for making this blog the most interesting daily read that I know of.

  12. Merry Christmas to All! πŸ™‚

In reading the comments, above, I was struck by the way that food, firearms, ammo, and survival supplies showed up under the Christmas Tree. I guess that the readers of this blog can also read the “Writing on the Wall” concerning the downward trajectory of America, and Western Europe, under the left-wing globalists who have seized control.

Perhaps when we hit the bottom, we will bounce and the trajectory will change.

However, it is likely to be an unpleasant roller-coaster ride until then. Hold on! 2024 is an election year and, if the Left has its way, plagues and riots are likely to return so as to “incentivize” the voters to keep the “Rich Men North of Richmond” in power for another four years. And a Happy New Years to you too! πŸ™‚
