Why did I title this “Ferguson, Part I”?
Because we all KNOW there’s going to be more than “one part” to whatever happens when the Grand Jury announces their determination of the facts based on the testimony they’ve spent so long hearing.
As we all wait on tenterhooks for the determination of the Grand Jury, and for what happens next, we have to consider some basic facts.
Intelligence from the field has told Missouri’s Governor Nixon that he needs to call out the National Guard and have them ready.
Agenda-driven outside protesters are already there, and have been poised for quite some time. The protesters’ alliance encompasses many of the usual suspects in the race-baiting-for-money world, and more. In a New Thing, the protesters have issued Rules of Engagement that they, uh, demand that the police follow: No protective gear allowed for cops, more than they’d usually wear, that sort of thing. Uh, yeah…
Here’s a hint: when YOU propose “Rules of Engagement,” YOU are preparing to ENGAGE.
Some of the “protesters” are on the internet requesting donations of things like gas masks and, I’m told, even bullet-proof vests. Huh. Wonder what they’re planning to draw upon themselves…
I am hearing, “Don’t worry. It will be a peaceful demonstration.” This from the same people who are talking about blocking highways (in bitterly cold winter weather) and keeping people from getting to and from work, ambulances from getting to hospitals, fire trucks from getting to fires, people from arriving at or departing from the St. Louis International Airport, etc. Keeping parents from picking up kids at school, and causing parents and kids alike who can’t make that connection, to panic.
I’m sorry, but that sounds to me very much like “disturbing the peace.” Can anyone tell me how disturbing the peace of people who are not involved in the thing you are protesting is NOT a crime? Can anyone tell me how, by definition, disturbing the peace is PEACEFUL?
Both sides seem to expect a verdict exonerating the officer who pulled the trigger. If it goes that way, I sincerely hope that people who have invested themselves heavily in potential violence protesting that verdict experience a sudden attack of massive self-control, and don’t do it.
But, a long cynicism-producing life tells me that this is not the most likely outcome.
If things “go south,” I can think of at least one cop (not me) who has suggested flamethrowers.
Many more observers, looking at the frigid weather in the Ferguson/St. Louis area – which many of us “in the business” believe may be a factor in the announcement being delayed this long – are of the opinion that fire hoses could come into play if extreme mob violence has to be contained.
I’m not recommending fire hoses, mind you, but given that the police in Ferguson have been shot at repeatedly since this whole thing began, and to the best of my knowledge the cops haven’t thrown anything but gas and rubber back, if things go violent a Night of the Frozen Ice Protesters might be preferable to another Kent State.
Readers, your input is welcome.
I doubt if many protesters have jobs to go to. So making announcing during week has no benefit, as far as reducing number of protesters. However, during weekend most honest folks will be at home along with their school age children. So my guess is this weekend for grand jury decision.

Hoping the Grand Jury announcement will be delayed until early morning hours (7:00 a.m.) on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning.
Make rioters and protesters do so when it’s convenient for responding officers–not on nights or weekends.

I think it should have been either a week before everyone expected it or a week after. Either get it over before everyone busses in for the protests, or have it a week after they all decide to go home.
That and don’t use water on idiots in the cold. They’re not smart enough to go inside and will die and their families will sue and it’ll be even bigger and dumber the next time around.
Instead, just let them have a peaceful protest and beat the living heck out of anyone you catch using it as an excuse for crime. Send a good message. Let people know that being mad is ok, and protesting is ok, but that crime will not be tolerated any more than assaulting police officers in their squad cars will be tolerated…

I hope that the locals have plans for what they and their families will do if roads are blocked, cell networks overwhelmed, etc. Pre-arranged meeting points in areas away from likely violence are one such prep. “Get home bags” in trunks of cars and legal concealed handguns are another type of preparation.
I pray for the people of Ferguson, and for first responders who’ll be putting their lives on the line.
Can we acknowledge this whole ordeal has been a Police-PR bumble-F**k from the get go? Maybe it’s just me that feels this way.
None the less. When things seem out of sorts. And they don’t add up. And when it’s either out of hand or teetering that way, It becomes more clear that a simple thing for Ferguson PD to do is follow the law.
That is going to cause some folks some trouble. Some will deserve it and some may not. I would suggest it’s damn hard to delineate the peaceful protestor from the violent protestor when you’re among the same crowd. The Peaceful protestor would be well advised to remember that.
The businesses, the Families and the work-a-day folk all deserve to have their person & property protected by organized or disorganized protests.
The first headline that got my attention several days ago was that schools were to be alerted prior to the indictment result going public. Were talking schools for kids, school buses and the like. Uh, that don’t sit well with me, not at all.
I remember the racial tensions in the deep south as a young kid on a school bus. The rioters came streaming into our school bus yard. Fortunately the teachers of the time had courage and faced the crowd down until the cops arrived.
There was no reason for those protestors to bring their issue to the school grounds. That was a mistake on their part.
The Ferguson PD must not beat around the bush here. They ought to have protocols in place to deal with civil unrest and act accordingly. And they ought to have protocols/ordinances in place to deal with peaceful protests as well. It’s the mix of those two that could give them grief.
If I were a protestor there, I would attempt to get a permit and work with the town to ensure it’s peaceful nature. And let the Thugs do what they do on their own dime and stay out of my peaceful protest.

The verdict is almost irrelevant. For those issuing “rules of engagement” anything short of murder charges followed by a hanging in downtown Ferguson followed by tearing Officer Wilson’s body apart is not “justice”.
I had a bunch of angry stuff to say about people who threaten to disturb the peace and then claim police brutality, but it all got washed away by one thought: Pray.
Pray for the police and the truly innocent in Ferguson, pray for the police and the truly innocent in other cities since you know this evil insanity (and I use both those terms deliberately) will not stop once it starts, and most of all pray for our country because too many are profiting from us going at each other over manufactured crises.

I read that one unnamed Ferguson cop has advised people to get guns, they won’ be able to protect the general public. Also read all EMTs firemen and LEO in the state have been told to be ready.. Dosen’t look good.

I have a bad feeling about this one folks. Too much time, money, and preparation has taken place by those that spend their lives hoping for an opportunity like this. The first protests in Ferguson may have been spontaneous, not so what’s coming.
Don-Pa, in the previous thread, pointed out that C.A.I.R. has set up shop in Ferguson. This group has had more meetings with the president than the leadership in congress, and was, recently, designated by the United Arab Emirates as a terrorist group.
The marriage of the assorted race based hate groups, anarchists, black revolutionaries, and Islamists, leads me to believe the violence will not be confined to the Ferguson area.
I have no plans to be anywhere close to Ferguson, Mo., but I can’t help but believe that there could very well be coordinated terror attacks across the country mimicking those recently in Israel. If these coincide with events expected in Ferguson, it will bring chaos to this country.
You folks know my background. I can tell you from experience that the resources of even big city police and fire departments can be overwhelmed very quickly and surprisingly easily. Those that would destroy our way of life are keenly aware of this.
Prepare accordingly.

Indicative of the mindset of this administration, read the following————-

This young officer was targeted because he was a police officer. Other accounts report that he was systematically tortured, while being driven around town to ATM’s to drain his bank account before being executed. The perpetrators were members of a black street gang who hoped their actions would improve their status in the gang.
It would be hard to find a more classic death penalty case. Murder in commission of a kidnapping, torture resulting in murder, robbery/ murder, murder of a police officer, each would qualify as stand alone capital murder cases. Holder says it just a simple murder.
All you cop haters out there, you have a kindred spirit in Eric Holder and his co-conspirator Barack Obama. They just sent a message, they are on your side. They just declared open season on white police officers.

The sad part is that the race baiters probably think that they’re doing what’s best for that community by attempting to draw parallels between these events and those of the mid-20th century. Their actions, however, will create even greater tensions and will most likely destroy the very neighborhoods and businesses that are needed for local stability. Such misguided efforts are a mystery to me.

I’m pretty sure I know the same cop who made the flamethrower suggestion. 🙂
Let’s pray people don’t let others’ agendas drive their behavior, and that we can all just get along. 🙂

Just this morning Fox News had some b-roll of handguns and the story that this gun shop in Ferguson was selling 50 guns a day.

Fire hoses! If the protest get ugly and looters are already starting shopping for Christmas hose them down. If they are out of reach for the firemen then call in fire fighting aircraft that can quickly lay vast amounts of water in a crowd along a street.
When a person is soaked to the bone and it is sub freezing the last thing they want to do is throw a brick or shoot a gun is to get out of wet clothes and into their warm home.

Theodore Dalrymple, who has been a social commentator and prison psychiatrist for many years, says that one thing all riots have in common is warm, dry weather. It will be interesting if Ferguson proves him wrong. Still i’m praying for cold weather, THERE.

I was musing a week or so ago that the middle of a blizzard would be an excellent time to announce the findings of the Grand Jury. A religious attitude toward snow removal (the Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away) wouldn’t hurt either- at least in areas not affecting emergency services.
It would be nice if some of those folks who decry the militarization of the police-illustrated by officers in riot gear-would be willing to demonstrate the lack of need by showing up in the police line in their three piece suits.

Peaceful demonstrations are ok…Looters and fire bombers should be shoot on sight…if this would have been done in the watts riots in the 60’s….all of the past riots would more than likely not have occurred…only the peaceful protest parts would have prevailed…imho

Al Sharpton needs the money and this is perhaps his last most juicy opportunity. Expect a lot of Sharpton’s face time in the following weeks. The number and high percentage of out of town “protesters” demonstrates that this is a sham directed by the race baiters, approved and abetted by the current administration. Let us hope there a but a few casualties during Act I. BTW, the water cannon sounds like a really good option to have on tap.

Fire hoses with a fog setting in cold weather WILL disrupt a crowd in a hurry… And if they get feisty, one click and you have a steady stream at up to 250psi… But I personally believe if this goes south, it needs to be quashed quickly…

Dennis – I don’t think I have ever read a more depressing story than the one you provided the link to. I was listening to Mark Walters on Armed American Radio last night and he was explaining how the Gruber quotes were standard liberal-ese. As in: “you are so stupid….” I want to believe he is wrong, but when the voters RE-elect Clinton AND Obama – then ignore such blatant things forced on us by the liberal zombie army selected by this “person” we are obligated (because we’re Americans) to call the commander-in-chief (feel free to gag at any time), I think just maybe he’s right. We simply MUST keep the faith.
Jaji – thank you from my heart for re-focusing me to where I should be – on my knees! It is hard to believe, at times like this – that almighty God has a plan. But He does!
Everyone – especially those in harm’s way (like Randy) – please maintain your collective cools – it will keep you alive.
