The Second Amendment Foundation has released a 22-minute video celebrating its fifty years of fighting for gun owners’ civil rights. Some of those who’ve been along for most or all of the ride, including founder Alan Gottlieb, give insight into how far we’ve come.  See it here:

  1. Excellent video Mas. It helps put SAF’s mission into perspective. Kind of like David vs Goliath. A little organization can prevail against mighty adversaries when the fight and cause is just. Thanks for sharing. Now I can put faces with the names of these folks when I get emails from them.

  2. It’s sad to think how hard, and how long our side has had to fight, to simply enjoy the RIGHT to self-defense with very small arms. Remember, this is in the United States of America, which is supposed to be a freedom-loving, enlightened nation. Other nations have no hope. We are truly living in a Legal Dark Age.

  3. Outstanding video.

That said, I haven’t looked lately, but the UN support for possession of firearms was limited to grudgingly conceding that farmers might be permitted to have shotguns. Pretty much useless if something’s chasing your livestock out in a pasture. I’ve grave doubts that’s changed for the better.

  4. I am a long time Endowment Life Member of the NRA. Because of the recent internal problems within the NRA leadership I stopped giving additional donations to the NRA and began regular donations to the SAF. Best decision ever.
