Why is it that in every recent Presidential election I’ve found myself saying, “We’re a nation of (now) some 330 million people, and these are the best two we can pick from to lead us?”
In a recent piece, Wall Street Journal defined the choice as Awful versus Empty. (Google will get you there, though it’s behind a paywall.) Awful was their definition of Trump’s performance in the debate with Harris. I agree he wasn’t on the best debating game, violating my own primary rule of not saying anything you can’t verify and offer reliable sources for. Empty was their definition of Harris, in which the WSJ piece claimed she evaded virtually every question.
If your litmus test issue is gun owners’ civil rights – as it is mine – Trump is not the perfect choice, but he is many times better than Harris in this regard, the latter having supported “buybacks,” the gaslight term for forced confiscation, of some of America’s most popular firearms, and at one point earlier in her career speaking approvingly of law enforcement coming into your home without a warrant to determine whether they were satisfied with how your guns were being stored.
Her positions on this and other key, bellwether issues show more flip-flops than a shoe store. Trump, who has been under enemy gunfire more than the anti-AR15 Democrat VP candidate who implied he had carried assault rifles in combat, is the logical choice for those to whom gun owners’ civil rights are important.
It has been said that guns and abortion are the two most contentious social debates in today’s America. If your litmus test issue is the latter, you’ll vote for Kamala Harris if you are pro-choice, and for Donald Trump if you identify as pro-life.
Personally, I am pro-the right to the most effective self-defense, which makes me pro-choice and pro-life in the matter of self-defense for good people.
I really wanted DeSantis to be the nominee but will choose Trump over the empty pantsuit that is Harris and her lying commie-loving VP pick Waltz. At least if something happens to Trump, we have Vance who is intelligent, articulate and well versed on the issues. Why do Democrats always pick VPs who are dumber than themselves and Republicans pick ones that can actually perform tasks assigned to them? Joy and giggles ain’t gonna cut it in today’s world.
Red Cross.org is calling for help. Any contribution that we can give now just might incidentally help demonstrate how goofy the priorities of our current fake Federal representatives have been. May God help us if the hurricane season rolls on and our badly needed, misdirected FEMA funds prove irreplaceable. One of the salient advantages of Mr. Trump is his great competence with economics, a proficiency sadly lacking in the plundering Chinese Parliament in D.C. led by Howdy Doody that has put us squarely behind the financial 8-ball.
Why do Democrats always pick VPs who are dumber than themselves and Republicans pick ones that can actually perform tasks assigned to them?
Assassination insurance, on both sides.
Dems pick VPs that are dumber and more repugnant than their Presidential nominee so nobody on the Right will want to take out the top person; the replacement will be even worse (for the opposing team’s definition of “worse”).
Republicans pick VPs that are brighter, more articulate, better versed on the issues, and often more conservative than the Presidential nominee for the same reason.
In both cases, the VP is less desirable to the opposing team so there’s less desire to remove the top guy/gal.
In 2016 the choice was between Felonia Von Pantsuit and the constitutionally-illiterate bloviating sales-twit. I voted for the sales-twit. After four years of a revitalized economy (the lowest black/minority unemployment since records have been kept, too), stable or massively improving world political situation (Saudi Arabs and Israeli’s actually talking and signing agreements? Discussion with the Nork’s Kim?) the choice in 2020 was much, much simpler between a sales-twit that improved the US and a blank slate led by some unknown cabal of evil collectivists that had blatantly stated their hatred for both Americans and America, only to watch in real-time as the fix went in and the steal occurred.
This time voting for Trump is an even easier choice. He might well have learned to have 10,000 or 20,000 names prepared in advance to fill the necessary slots in the DC Swamp, and be prepared to eliminate many if not most of the Cabinet posts and departments (“Education” and “Energy” come prominently to mind), but the same cabal that led Biden by the nose will find it even easier to lead Harris. But the steal is going to have to be massive, and almost out in the open for everyone to see, but they’re going to fraud this election so hard it might well lead to a civil split. I hope not.
Trump is not, as the over-credentialed idiots of the WSJ say, “awful”, he simply puts the United States and America first.
Harris is not “empty”, she is simply filled with evil. Collectivist, statist, authoritarian evil.
The only thing Trump puts first is Trump. The only reason he is running is his attempt to stay out of prison. Prison is where he truly belongs. He has been grifting, stealing and cheating his entire life. Nothing comes out of his mouth that is not a lie and he becomes more deranged and deluded everyday ( Sure as hell not a hand on the Nuclear codes that I want) . If you think he gives a damn about you, or the USA I have some pristine land to sell you in the Everglades.
The spineless GOP has allowed this Con Man to take over their once respectable party and they should be deeply ashamed of themselves. Until the party regrows their spine and eradicates the cancer that is Trump, Trumpism and this MAGA nonsense the once Grand old Party is doomed.
All this complaining about Harris taking away your guns is a MAGA scare tactic. If that was going to happen it would have happened in 2021. Enforcing common sense gun laws is not in any way unreasonable. Clearly there are problems that need to be addressed. No one is interested in taking away your 2nd Amendment rights.
And no, before you get your undies in a twist, I am not a Democrat or liberal. I am a gun owner, and an Independent that has voted both parties depending on the issue and the candidate. Blindly putting party over country is a sad state of affairs. Just ask the truly conservative Republicans that have clearly stated that Trump is UNFIT to hold office and are voting for Harris to give the party time to eradicate Trumpism and rebuild their once decent party. Trump is a stain on the past, present and future of our country.
Wow. Me thinks you are getting too much info from MSNBC.
Accurate and well stated, Linda.
Conman Trump has been getting away with all sorts of crimes for decades and he belongs in prison for the rest of his life. Too many folks cannot admit Trump’s foul business dealings, sexual assaults, psychopathy, myriad failures, and gross unfitness for the presidency.
If you want to destroy America, vote for sordid Trump!
Linda & Spencer,
Trump has been in the public eye since 1974. Your accusations are false, but I think your dreams will come true. I believe George Soros fixed the 2020 election, and he will fix this one. So, Kamala will be our next President.
There are very powerful people who want Trump assassinated, so they will likely keep trying. Soon we will be living in your Worker’s Paradise. I hope you like it.
You hate a man and a reality that doesn’t exist. Turn off the TV.
In the New York “inflating assets” case the bank Trump supposedly “defrauded” testified on his side that the transaction was business as usual, the loan was paid back on schedule, and both sides were happy.
The 34 “felonies” he was convicted of were actually bookkeeping misdemeanors well past their statute of limitations, that the judge and prosecutor (who campaigned on “getting Trump” instead of protecting the citizens he represented) colluded to pretend were felonies.
The FBI showboated a raid on Trump’s home for classified documents he was unquestionably authorized as POTUS to declassify. Department of Justice had Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden stone cold for mishandling classified documents neither had the authority to have at home, she on her unprotected server and he in his garage, and simply refused to raid or prosecute either.
Since Trump came down the escalator in 2016 partisan prosecutors from every corner of the country have scrutinized every “I” he ever dotted and every “T” he ever crossed. If those are the best cases they could come up with, he has the cleanest record of any politician ever.
So now they’re trying to kill him.
Blackwing1,
Excellent!
Not surprisingly, I disagree with you, Roger, but that’s normal when folks rationally discuss politics.
Nevertheless, I admit that both the Democratic and Republican parties have done a poor job of representing the average American for decades. The major difference now is the Dems are showing definite signs of returning to the New Deal days of FDR, which produced our country’s Greatest Generation and prosperity for most Americans–while the GOP is looking considerable worse than the unpatriotic German American Bund, the KKK and Father Charles Coughlin circa the late 1930s.
Black Wing 1, I generally support your position. I see Mr. Trump maturing with good sense and political savvy. I definitely believe that will he uphold the 2nd Amendment. You can tell at any time that Harris and Walz are not speaking truthfully if their lips are moving. Furthermore, I am fully opposed to putting up with any Harris-Walz Deep State. Please let me mention that Dan Bongino presents today on his own Rumble/Dan Bongino Show the most concise and comprehensive analysis of current American politics that I have heard yet. Mr. Bongino’s vocabulary has sometimes seemed more than a little severe in the past, but he recently seems to be making a consistent effort forward in self control. He is modest about his obviously plentiful I.Q. and is no Howdy Doody dummy. Dan can also outwork a large Missouri draft mule. He makes logical arguments, in contrast to the perpetually ad hominem, anti-Trump Media Mafia, and his outcomes are amazing. I pray to God that he continues to live a charmed life. He is still a young and energetic guy of about 50. T Y U all!
“it might well lead to a civil split. I hope not.”
I hope it doesn’t as well. I’ve seen war and revolution, and I don’t want my children and grandchildren to participate in either.
But the Democrats haven’t been this angry since the Republicans eliminated slavery, and that was when they started the first U.S. Civil War.
Amen. Yet another HYNV election -“Hold Your Nose and Vote”, which is what I just did. Our county is sparsely populated and mountainous so all voting is by mail ballots unless you drive to the courthouse many miles away. Personally I’d like to see the government butt out of the abortion issue and let God decide on judging those involved. Jo Ann
That’s about where I’m at, too. I wish politicians would get the heck out of both the LGBTQ marriage business and the abortion business. In the former, the government’s interest should be limited to taxes and survivorship benefits, and in the latter it should be limited to liability and patient safety (including the safety of the unborn at some science-supported stage of development). Y’know, just like any other “special” interests.
I count these mostly as personal lifestyle choices, and except for reasonable safety regulations and other legitimate government interests (age of consent, taxes and benefits defined or required by law, etc.), government should butt the heck out.
In my opinion, post Reagan every Presidential election has been choosing the lesser of evils. My hope is that, with this pair, we have reached rock bottom, but I’m not optimistic.
Recall what Regan did to the Air Traffic Controllers. He did a lot of good but did Trickle Down Economics help us? I’m not sure. I doubt I’ll see your reply, so don’t bother. I just wanted to give you a gentle reminder.
What Reagan did with the Air Traffic Destroyers was to get them back to work, precisely what NEEDED to be done.
I hope Trump does the exact opposite to the FEMA controllers…. retire the lot of them,no pension.
THANKS MASS.
I used to say that in 2016 “I held my nose and voted for Trump” because I felt then and feel even more so today that the Clinton’s are evil with disdain for the US Constitution. Hilary’s recent comments regarding increasing control over free speech and social networks are all the proof you need. After digging pretty deep into Trump I have come to the self realization that while I made the best choice in voting for Donald Trump in 2016 I was affected by the rhetoric of the propaganda arm of the democrat party known as CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC et al. Today when I look at Donald Trump I see one of the most committed American patriots in many years. I believe Donald Trump truly loves our country and yes, would take a bullet for us. I consider myself a patriot but could not endure then thrive on the persecution that Donald Trump has shouldered. I support the USA and Donald Trump lock, stock and barrel.
I learned years ago, the best predictor of future performance is past performance…..Trump was President for four years, and I can’t remember the country ever being better shape….
for everyone…in all aspects. His only fault was in keeping too many govt lifers, and not replacing them with successful leaders from the private sector…..I bet he won’t make that mistake the second time around. And he has chosen a terrific Vice President candidate, unlike
last time.
Ted fries,
Trump was excellent, but he still spent too much money. Our government needs to cut spending.
I learned years ago, the best predictor of future performance is past performance
Absolutely.
I saw something online, can’t remember where, but it basically said this: If Trump were going to do the terrible things they say, he already would have. If Kamala were going to do the wonderful things they say, she would be doing them now.
That’s the truth, isn’t it? Trump had four years in which the Dems were in meltdown mode, yelling that Trump was going to send the gays to re-education camps, put all minorities into concentration camps, and kick off World War III. None of that happened, and in fact, in many cases the opposites happened: Black unemployment was the lowest it’s been since the 60s, Putin/Russia and North Korea were quiet, and Israel and Arab nations were engaged in fruitful peace talks. The worse that can be said is that Trump “didn’t do anything for the LGBTQ community”, but I’m not sure what more can be done than enforcing equal rights that they already had recognized.
And now Kamala/Biden has had four years to increase freedom and quality of life, lower inflation, cut taxes, and “Make America Love Again” (since she can’t seem to make her own unique campaign slogan). Instead, the governments are in crack-down mode on freedom of speech, the press, gun rights, workers’ rights, and they’re edging in on religious rights. Inflation is higher than I’ve ever seen it, even good-paying jobs are often not enough to pay bills, taxes are increasing to cover the costs of spending, and the American people are more divided and mistrustful of the government and each other than they have been since pre-Civil-War days.
This election is a choice: Both candidates have had four years in office. Past performance being the best indicator of future performance, which would we like four more years of?
Rabbi – I had no idea who or what a “Donald Trump” was before his announcement he was running for President in ’16. A quick check then informed that he had been celebrated by Jessie Jackson for his contributions to Black America, was considered a Manhattan socialite, and was loved by the left on both coasts. Meh, not in my lane.
Then I happened to speak with a friend who was better acquainted with New York and owned a personal security company. It was he who changed my mind. He said he knew some of Trumps security folks and they see all and love him as a great American. That good news was confirmed further by an interview with the pilot of his personal plane – a prior Air Force 1 pilot – whose personal dedication to Trump was very evident. So, the man was not the image media constructed. I voted for him twice subsequently.
I will vote for him again. His record was good, and now his personal courage has been demonstrated as first rate.
All that said, Trump MUST get assistance on whom to put on his staff. SECDEF, Dir. CIA, FBI, his AG were ALL disastrous traitors last time.
Here’s hopin’ he wins – and gets patriots and not crooks and swamp critters to work for him this time.
GUN-OWNER RIGHTS ARE MY LITMUS TEST. I’M FAR LESS INTERESTED IN MANY OTHER ISSUES BECAUSE THEY DO NOT IMPACT ME DIRECTLY, EVEN THOUGH I DO HAVE AN OPINION ON THEM. I BELIEVE 2A IS THE BEDROCK FOR EVERYTHING ELSE GREAT ABOUT THE USA, SO IT’S TRUMP/ VANCE FOR ME. FRANKLY, I THINK VANCE WOULD BE A GREAT POTUS IF ANYTHING EVER HAPPENED TO TRUMP, SO IT’S AN EASY VOTE FOR ME. THE COLLECTIVISTS ARE GOING TO TRY SOME FUNNY BUSINESS, FOR SURE, BUT I DON’T THINK THEY’LL PULL IT OFF THIS TIME. I GUESS WE’LL SEE NOV. FIFTH !
Biden and Harris are terrible people with very impressive resumes (can’t put accents over the ‘e’s). Biden was in Congress since 1974, then became Vice President for eight years. Now he is President. He gets money from other countries like China, and he is funding the terrorist nation of Iran. His mental health is less than ideal, yet he still gets to be President. Most impressive.
Harris is a lawyer who can’t argue very well, even though that is what lawyers do. I think she missed her calling. Her speech makes me imagine her as an elementary school teacher, talking down to the kids. Nevertheless, she got to be Attorney General of the State of California. California has 40 million people in it, the same number as Canada. Harris was the top lawyer there. Amazing! Then she got to be Vice President, and she will likely become our next President, if George Soros can pull off his normal trickenology. In America, even a dingbat can be President. I only like two things about Kamala; her hair and her teeth.
If the American government is of the people, by the people and for the people, then the people are responsible for whatever is wrong with it. We the People voted for these politicians, except for the cheating that took place.
“What fools these mortals be.” — Shakespeare. “We have met the enemy, and he is us.” — Pogo.
Harrris quite literally got into bed with some of California’s corrupt wranglers. that’s how she got to be anybody beyond a useless coed at You See Berserkely. She only was and is what her handlers have made her out to be.
The democrat’s, and their media propagandists, have spent the last decade doing the most intensive job of character assassination on Donald Trump ever seen in the History of the World. No human being, that has ever lived, has been subject to this type of constant 24/7/365 destructive campaign.
As shown by Linda’s comment above, this campaign of character assassination has been 100% effective with many people. I have a hard time understanding it myself. The bias of the media is so obvious. Everybody acknowledges that the media constantly lies through their teeth. Yet, so many people seem to discount this record of ten million lies and, uncritically, continue to accept the propaganda feed to them by the DNC operatives in the media. ???
For my part, when someone proves themselves to be a compulsive liar, I stop believing anything that comes out of their mouth. Yet, so many people prove that George Orwell was correct when he coined the term “Doublethink”. See this link:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doublethink
We see doublethink at work in the World of Today every time someone acknowledges that the media is populated by liars and propagandists, yet, they go right on believing the poison that they spew out daily!
If one shakes one’s mind free of this media poison, one can see that Donald Trump is not “the lesser of two evils” but is, in fact, an excellent choice for President.
I admit that Trump has his faults. He has an outsized ego. So what? Do you think that Biden, Harris, Clinton, and company don’t have egos? It takes an outsized ego just to run for National Public Office. That is part of the “Job Description”.
Trump also had, on occasion, poor judgment in picking people for certain positions. So many of his picks turned out to be “Swamp Creatures” and unworthy of trust. I hope that Trump has learned the lesson that no one, who has breathed the tainted air of Washington, D.C. for more than 12-months at a stretch, is to be trusted.
As for the charges that he is dishonest and is a criminal, those are laughable. Besides the character assassination, Donald Trump is the most “investigated” human being to have ever lived. The democrats have “burned the stump and shifted the ashes” in looking for criminal behavior that they could use to develop charges against Donald Trump. He has been investigated by the Justice Department, State Governments, foreign and domestic intelligence agencies, special counsels, media organizations, and congressional committees. Tens of thousands of man-hours and untold millions of dollars, of taxpayer money, have been spent on the effort.
What was the result? Nothing that a decent criminal prosecutor could hang his hat on! In the end, the democrats had to make “non-crimes” into crimes just to have something to work with. They pumped up paperwork complaints, normally a misdemeanor at most, for a non-disclosure agreement into 34 felonies. They took the fact that Trump had some presidential papers, which every president does, and tried to make it a “National Security” issue. They took an ordinary public speech to a crowd and tried to turn it into an “insurrection”. They took ordinary concerns over the fairness of the 2020 election and tried to turn that into an election interference crime.
I expect that, in the end, all these “non-crime”, manufactured crimes will be tossed out the window. If this is the best that the democrats can come up with, after a decade of investigation and the expenditure of tens of millions of dollars, then I stand ready to nominate Donald Trump for Sainthood! I doubt that even the Pope’s background would stand up that that level of scrutiny.
Other’s complain about Donald Trump’s aggressive behavior. I have no problems with that myself. In these days and times, a street fighter is EXACTLY what is needed to help clean out the D.C. swamp. Fight!, Fight!, Fight!
Donald Trump suffers from Affluenza. It’s hard to be humble when all you ever do is win, win, win. He exaggerates things like a salesman. Everything is the greatest, the best, et cetera.
The bias of the media is so obvious. Everybody acknowledges that the media constantly lies through their teeth. Yet, so many people seem to discount this record of ten million lies and, uncritically, continue to accept the propaganda feed to them by the DNC operatives in the media.
I ascribe it to the “Gell-Mann Amnesia Effect”, as described by author Michael Crichton (who named it after his physicist friend, Murray Gell-Mann):
The other logical fallacy at play is confirmation bias, in which you seek out or are more likely to believe the stories that match your pre-existing beliefs. People who already believe Trump is a felon/scoundrel/traitor/whatever will seek out stories that confirm that belief, and will discount or argue against any that refute it.
Rational people can objectively see the bias in the media and approximately half of America. Unfortunately, thanks to the public
educationindoctrination system, rational people who can think critically and objectively are few and far between.Remember that in 1933, good, well-meaning, patriotic German citizens voted to put Adolph Hitler in charge of their nation. Let us not repeat that mistake.
It was philosopher George Santayana, early in the 20th Century, who wrote ,“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
Not too long ago, Trump promised to be a dictator, essentially à la Adolph Hitler, on day one if reelected to the presidency. My hope is we don’t repeat that kind of dark past.
The Constitution is our cornerstone. Follow it and we won’t go wrong. Right now, it is being attacked by the current government and that cannot stand. If Trump decides to violate that document, I will work to remove him from office as well.
Please let us remember that Adolph Hitler professed “National Socialism!” Hitler once mentioned the folly of getting into a brawl in a beer hall to see how hard your head was. Too likely such had happened to Hitler in his youth, producing a Blunt Object Trauma delivered by a swat from a stone beer stein. He had a plundering fake economist in the form of an assistant named Martin Bormann, who largely enabled WWII.
WSJ has embarrassed themselves over and over again with their Never Trump garbage. Just ask Kevin Williamson.
I am totally fine with No New Wars and Mean Tweets.
I’m not voting for Trump.
I’m voting for a secure border, safe streets, criminal accountability, and freedom of expression.
I’m voting for our civil rights, all of them, especially the Second Amendment which protects the others and allows us to own and bear firearms of our own choosing without government interference.
I’m voting for a competent Executive Department that respects the rule of law without targeting political rivals based merely on their ideology.
I’m voting for economic prosperity where inflation is kept in check, regulation is kept to a minimum for public safety, fair taxation, and consistent business policy..
I’m voting for a government that supports its people, especially in time of need or crisis, and keeps foreign interests secondary to our own.
I’m voting for economic opportunity, not dependence on government subsidies and welfare programs.
I’m voting for a public school system that prepares children to become happy, healthy, and productive adults with the skills they need to provide for themselves and elevate society at large.
I’m voting for parents to raise their children as they see fit, and not subject to the insane ideology based on imaginary identities and presumed victimhood of their own making.
I’m voting for who will stand up to foreign tyrants, negotiate peace between traditional adversaries, and strong enough to support the global position of the United States and our allies.
It just so happens that the current administration does NOT support those ideals but the Trump/Vance team does, so I know which box I will check November 5th.
TJ,
Excellent. I agree with everything except the part about the public schools. Education is not a function of government (except for the training of military personnel). All education should be private, ideally.
Good God. What kind of man incessantly lies, gaslights, makes fun of the disabled, sexually assaults women and brags about it, disparages American military dead and wounded as losers and suckers, cozies up to the world’s worst fascist leaders, promises to be a dictator on the first day of his presidency if reelected, but when he’s criticized for his unsavory behavior, he blames others and whines that he’s not being treated fairly?
And what’s up with his unhinged babbling about sharks, electric boats and windmills? Or how about him dancing to music for almost 40 minutes during a recent public town hall meeting?
Why would anyone want such a train wreck to be our president and commander in chief?
Try watching less MSNBC.
Most of what you posted has been completely debunked.
Trump hadn’t even been inaugurated when Nancy Pelosi announced that the Dem controlled congress would impeach him for: “being him and being the winner” despite Hilary’s disputing that result.
Chuck Schumer threateningly intoned that: “if Trump sought to ‘clip-the-wings’ of the “Deep State” he would discover that the Deep State had 12 ways from Sunday to torpedo him { Trump}.
Trump was outplayed early on by the corrupt press with a contrived media episode which forced him to fire National Security Advisor Gen. Michael Flynn.
Despite that coordinated treason, Trump recovered and created the most stable middle-east politic, ever, and the most rational global politic forcing civilized behavior from Iran, Russia and China.
Trump also arranged a civilized and constitutionally lawful method to control the Obama immigration scandal and to limit the Cartel profits from running an illegal immigrant smuggling operation.
Trump acted like a business executive: enforce the laws [the manifest will of the Congress]; and attempt to manage the demands of the world on our nation with-in the available budgeted funds of our economy.
In clear retrospection, Trumps administration was ” the GOOD OLD Days”
As far as I’m concerned, the Red Cross can go to hell, and the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, and Doctors Without Borders along with it. ALL of them actively undermining US immigration policy to flood us with illegal aliens. Of primary concern after the election is to put an end to all taxpayer funding of ALL NGOs, forever.
