A few entries ago, I mentioned that my friend Rick Ector had assembled a cadre of volunteer instructors and range owners to give an introduction to guns and gun safety to a record number of women.

Though it didn’t reach the ambitious numbers Rick and his stalwarts had been hoping for, but drawing in nearly two thousand attendees at that successful, injury-free weekend is nothing less than awesome. The AP even took notice.

Hearty congratulations to Rick and his team … and to all those brave ladies who put that first toe in the ocean of American gun owners, and found those waters welcoming, safe, and empowering.

  2. I am glad that the training effort was a success.

    However, I don’t think much of the AP story linked above. The Anti-American Media is so biased that they can never report a story like this factually. They always have to give it a lot of left-wing top spin. Here is just a few selections from this AP story that illustrate this spin:

    1) “But a new motivator is the display of public anger in the last 15 months beginning with confrontations in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis under the knee of police officer Derek Chauvin.”

    My response: The American Left has been whipping up racial strife for years now. They use any opportunity to send their “bought-and-paid-for” activists into the street. BLM is a Marxist organization that facilitates this effort. So, what we saw over the last 15 month was not general and spontaneous “public anger” as implied in this piece of propaganda. What we have seen is a planned and politically financed effort to exploit any possible incident to increase racial tension in this country.

    2) “outrage over the outcome of the presidential 2020 election, driven by lies, are contributors, too.”

    There are plenty of reasons to doubt the fairness of the 2020 presidential election. To denounce it all as “driven by lies” is a blatant example of partisan bias. These doubts existed even before the election occurred (see this story):

    And, certainly, the events during and after the election did nothing to dispel them.

    3) “In Michigan, that anger led to a plot to kidnap the governor…”

    As anyone who has followed this story should know by now, this “plot” was a total set-up. Like much of the so-called January 6th Insurrection, it was orchestrated by agents and operatives of the FBI. Its purpose: to tar conservatives as criminals and to raise fears that the so-called “Radical Right” is out of control in this country. Once again, this AP Propaganda piece makes it sound like these events were spontaneous and organic to these right-wing groups when, in fact, it was the work of FBI agent provocateurs.

    4) “We’ve seen such an increase in white nationalist violence,” Webster said. “Some combination of the lack in faith in police protecting you and hate groups has motivated a lot of Black people to arm up.”

    This quote is a multi-layered example of political bias. First, it falsely claims a great increase in “white nationalist violence” when, in fact, the overwhelming majority of increase in street violence has been caused by BLM, Antifa, and other left-wing groups. The only street violence, that I have seen on the Right, has been provoked by FBI provocateurs. Secondly, this quote stokes racial division, again, by implying that the only reason that “black people arm up” is fear of white nationalist hate groups. It glosses over the motivations to “arm up” due to crime, street violence or reductions in police forces. Why gloss over these other motivations? Answer: Because they are all being stoked by the Left and cannot be easily blamed upon conservatives.

    5) “Hopkins’ Webster said whatever the reason, it is an open question whether the women who are buying the firearms now are safer.”

    Here we see a rephrasing of the old claim. That a firearm kept at home for self-protection is more dangerous then the threat of crime and violence itself. The age old cry of the hoplophobe.

    Clearly, political bias so pollutes the worldview of the AP that they cannot report factually anymore. Their political bias must be ladled into every story that they write. I bet they are even incapable of delivering a simple weather report without turning it into a rant against climate change! 🙂

      Believe it or not, I actually had the opposite reaction to that AP article. I like the headline, and I thought most of the writing was refreshingly accurate. I did notice the attack on the white nationalist boogeyman, as you aptly pointed out. Other than that, the article was more pro-gun than I expected. Of course, I loathe the media, and expected a total hit piece. How could an editor let such a pro-gun article be published? Was the editor on vacation when this piece was written? I thought the writer was not being politically correct enough. I think that writer might even get fired for writing so positively about firearm training.

      If someone really fears white supremacists, the solution is easy. Move to a non-white country. Then you won’t be oppressed by Mighty Whitey. Looks to me like lots of non-whites enjoy being oppressed here in the good ole, racist USA. It’s amazing the Left gets away with their lies. People nod their heads when the Left speaks, but their feet stay right here in this country. And the Left is unable to scare immigrants away with all their talk of white supremacist boogeymen.

      Here’s a thought about climate change. What were all the families and tribes of human beings doing for the the last 10,000 years on every part of the inhabited globe? Why, they were cutting down trees and burning mostly wood fires (except for the Eskimos/Inuits, who don’t use fire). Ancient people burned fires to keep warm, to cook their food, and to shape metal. That’s a lot of smoke going up into the atmosphere of Mother Earth, not to mention a lot of deforestation, also. For all I know, maybe ancient men were bigger polluters than modern men.

        I guess our different reactions come from our different expectations. The media “claims” to be journalists. So, that is my expectation of them. I won’t respect them until they produce articles that are fair, balanced, and factual. Articles that meet true journalistic standards rather than being filled with a heavy dose of political bias and propaganda.

        As you point out, my expectations are probably too high for today’s media. You seem to have lowered your expectations so that anything less than a total “Hit Piece”, against firearm-owners and/or Conservatives, is viewed as a positive.

        Maybe you are right to be more realistic in your expectations. Clearly, my expectation of journalism is destined to bring me nothing but bone-deep disappointment in today’s media.

      • Ah, but ancient man did not have Freon and the gasoline engine, which has damaged the ozone layer beyond repair and now we will all burn, just like the great prophet Al Gore predicted. Better get your affairs in order soon as we only have about 10 years left to live according to the wise AOC and her fellow liberals, who declare all anti-science conservatives will go to Hell for destroying our planet.

    • I agree with all of the above. Its sad to say but the majority of the Alphabet agencies in our land have become for the most part untrustworthy useful idiots. The FBI have been complicite in every cover up every involving assassination, bombings; Boston, OKC, 911, FBI gate, Ruby Ridge, Flight 800, yada yada, ecetera. Its amazing that we have lasted this long.

    • Thanks for the link to this excellent article. Neil Smith is correct. The Right to keep and bear arms is the mirror that reveals the true face of a politician. The face of a true servant of the People will show in that mirror. The face of a political vampire, that seeks nothing more than to feed on the tax blood of the People, will not show up at all.

      The Biden regime could learn from this point. it is old wisdom. Nicolo Machiavelli made this very point over 500 years ago in The Prince (Chapter XX) as quoted below:

      “There never was a new prince who has disarmed his subjects; rather when he has found them disarmed he has always armed them, because, by arming them, those arms become yours, those men who were distrusted become faithful, and those who were faithful are kept so, and your subjects become your adherents.       Perhaps the American Left does not care that the actions of the Biden regime to disarm the American People will “breed hatred” against him. No doubt they feel that, with the power of global corporations, big tech, the Anti-American Media, and the Deep State all on their side, they can ignore and discount the opinions of The People. In any event, Joe Biden is a “Tissue President”. He was manufactured by the Left to be used and then thrown away. So, what if he is hated? They think that they can discard both him, and his unpopularity with the People, at any time.

      Are they correct in their judgment of the American People? Only time will tell.

    Three thumbs down fir the garbage AP story “increase in white nationalist violence” WHERE? The major killer for all races is members of their own race. This is true for Blacks, Whites and Hispanics. We kill those we encounter the most.

    I’m not surprised that the AP could take a great story of a group of (at least some white men) firearms instructors giving free firearms safety instruction to a group of (majority black) women and making it into a “reaction to white Supremacists!!”

  7. In slightly related news, in a typical end of the week announcement buried in the back pages of the daily tripe, per the AP, the nomination of David Chipman as head of the BATFE has been pulled.

    • Added info: AP blamed the Republicans-and cited specific ones- for the failure to confirm. No mention of the Democrats-and there were a number of them-who felt the nominee wasn’t qualified.
