The premier
trade show of the firearms world is SHOT, the Shooting Hunting and Outdoor
Trade Show. “Our man at SHOT,” Jim
Fitzpatrick, will be there each day. The
show kicked off Monday with Media Day and the gala SIG Day, when writers and
buyers get to shoot the new guns. Here’s
Jim’s report. There will, of course, be
more each day this week.
The new Sprinfield Armory 911 in 9mm, and XDM 4.5 and 5.25 in 10mm did not disappoint. The 911 was a bit small in my hand but was manageable. The 10mm pistols shot steady and accurate. Fun pistols to shoot.

Solid update. Thank you.
Mas, what do you forecast for the future of the Glock 43X and 48 as far as law enforcement adoption is concerned? Will agencies switch to one, or make them optional for officers with smaller hands? I recommended the 48 for my nephew up in Canada as its barrel length satisfies their laws but personally I’d go for the 43.
I think the police market will welcome them more for off-duty and backup, but an 11-shot 9mm could certainly be a uniform option for officers with very small hands. Will depend on the identified needs of the particular agency, methinks. I was handling the 43X and 48 here at home base, and love the trigger reach dimension. Should have one o each in hand for testing shortly, for GUNS magazine.
Hmm. Well,NYPD comes to mind, plus a few of the bigger Western departments. Looking forward to your review 🙂
NYPD seems to want pistols with 15 round magazine capacity for uniform duty wear, Paul.
I hate Ca!
We are left behind and SHOT serves to remind me
of that.
Great report.
Thanks for the information.
Do you think that the introduction of Winchester Defender 10MM ammo will mean the end of the Silvertip 10MM?
Can’t say for sure, however all good things come to an end. New technology and materials most times, rule the day. We shall see….
