In the past, we’ve had “Holocaust deniers.”  Now, in the latest wave of anti-gun hysteria, we have people denying reality on a related topic.

But we also have truth, fortunately, as seen here via Richie Feldman.

  1. Great artical by Feldman.
Dr. Ben Carson is looking better and better. Anyone who can rile the liberals, I’m all for.

  2. A quick review of the Warsaw ghetto uprising dispells the myth that an armed Jewish resistance would have been ineffective. Sure, millions of Jews may have been murdered anyway; but no human’s cause of death should ever be “lack of resistance to evil”.

  3. Hornberger’s article was excellent, but Steinweiss will still accomplish his purpose. His purpose is not to convince thinking people that the Holocaust could have been avoided or lessened, but to convince the “touchy-feely” non-thinking people that guns can’t save them. Guns are always evil and never do any good anywhere. Guns have no place in a utopian society filled with rainbows and cuddly unicorns. How can a touchy-feely person learn from history? History is filled with too much violence. That ugliness would make a touchy-feely person uncomfortable, and wish to go back to studying sports statistics and health foods. The very word “war” makes them feel scared.

The Jews in Europe made a big mistake when they gave up their guns. They trusted the Germans, and did not think they would really be harmed in those “work camps.” They didn’t know they were being exterminated. If they had know that, of course they would have resisted. Many German WWI veterans were Jewish, and they would have been about 40-years-old in the late 1930s. They had plenty of combat experience.

Because America has a lot of gun owners, our politicians are forced to be polite to us. They can’t just run roughshod over us. They have to say nice things to us, and tax us in sneaky ways. Who wants a revolution when we can still buy lots of stuff, watch sports, music and movies, and eat food from all over the world? Critics preach about how oppressive America is, but most of the world wants to live here, and no one wants to leave. Those who do leave are rich, and are able to still retain their high standard of living when they move to another country.

  4. The experience of the Warsaw Ghetto shows what Jews with arms were able to do against the Nazis. Had the Russians not just stood by and waited for the Nazis to eventually outgun the Jews, there would have been many more Polish Jews alive at the end of WWII.

  5. If one percent of the European Jews slaughtered by the Nazis had guns and shot the first Nazi through their door before they were killed anyway, there would have been 60,000 more dead Nazis.

The Jews would have tied down hundreds of thousands of German troops within their own borders. How could that not have affected the war and the Holocaust?

What if 5% had shot the first Nazi through the door? 300,000 dead Nazis.

The idea that 60,000 armed enemies, with nothing to lose, behind German lines would have had no effect on the war is stupid.

The passengers and crew of United 93 had only food trays and perhaps a drinks cart, but they fought back, and they accomplished two great things: They saved either the White House or the Capitol Building with those inside, and they provided the country heroes on a day they were most sorely needed.

Resistance was not futile on 9-11, nor would resistance have been futile in 1943. We know that for a fact from the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, and the revolts at the extermination camps which caused the closing of both Sobibor and Treblinka.

More on that here if you haven’t been familiar with those stories: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2015/10/12/unarmed-jews-defeat-mass-murder-revolts-at-the-extermination-camps/

  6. Thanks for the link; it is a good read. I had read the NYT article, and its brain-deadness was stupifying; kudos to Mr. Feldman for penning a response.

  7. I’m sure some of you folks have read the excellent book “Gun Control in the Third Reich”, by Stephen P. Halbrook.
But for those of you who haven’t I wanted to strongly recommend it!!!!!!
It sure explains a lot about government control!

  8. For those gun owners and pro-2a folks who still vote democrat/liberal/progressive, consider this……….

    http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2015/10/court_decision_paves_the_way_for_australianstyle_gun_ban.html

I’ll say it again, a bad choice for president is a four year mistake, a lib/progressive supreme court justice is a lifetime. We are one justice choice away from losing our gun rights (among others) forever, once they are gone, we will never get them back. We will be just as defenseless as the Jews in Germany under Hitler.

Sad that a free people would willing give up freedom for a promise of a hand-out from those who would rule over you.

  9. “In his article, Steinweis suggests that widespread gun ownership among German Jews would not have affected the outcome of the Holocaust. He says that the Nazi state was too powerful and that armed Jews would not have been able to resist its omnipotent power. He also says that most Germans supported the Nazi state and, therefore, would not likely have come to the aid of resisting Jews.”

Steinweiss’ thinking is similar to that which shows up after a GFZ shooting: guns in the hands of responsible citizens would not have helped, but in fact would have created more bloodshed.

  10. I wish that the knee-jerk gun-grabbers would see the tragic irony that it will take an armed force loaded with guns to try to take the guns away from the real Molon Labe, Constitutionalist Americans. I hope that our police and armed forces will realize before the next time of confiscation a la Hurricane Katrina that they are being used by cowardly politicians who have little or no interest in risking their own necks under any circumstances, and whose motives are dubious at best.

Personal security in a free society is by necessity a decentralized phenomenon. Centralized control of firearms ownership is what reduced the entire German nation, not just the ethnic Jews, to servitude and eventual, miserable disaster under the Nazis.

Thank you for your post and that article. I am reminded that sometime in the 1990s, the citizens of San Francisco voted to ban handguns from their city. The law could not be upheld, because a city is not allowed to have gun laws which pre-empt state laws. But that was an example of American citizens voting to disarm themselves. Ludicrous!
