Our newly re-elected President told Sarah Brady and company that he was working “under the radar” for more “gun control.” We reported it here. He told the Russians that he’d have “more flexibility” after he was re-elected. We told you that here.
About 12 hours after he was declared the victor in the Presidential race, it was announced that his administration was calling for NATO to reconsider the onerous international small arms treaty that would have profoundly chilling effects on the rights of American gun owners. My friend Dave Workman, a tireless activist for gun owners’ civil rights, explains it all here: http://www.examiner.com/article/the-day-after-u-n-moves-quickly-on-global-gun-control-debate?cid=db_articles .
Simultaneously, Dianne Feinstein is apparently introducing a new semi-automatic firearms ban, one which is vastly farther-reaching and more draconian than the one Bill Clinton ramrodded through and forced us to live with for a decade. This one will have no sunset clause. You won’t be able to sell the guns you own which “fit the (ridiculous) profile” of what will be forbidden…which very likely means you won’t be able to bequeath those guns to your children. Check it out here: http://www.examiner.com/article/feinstein-rumored-to-be-pushing-semi-auto-ban-if-obama-reelected
Carolyn McCarthy, a vehement single issue anti-gunner, doesn’t just encourage President Obama to use executive orders to curtail your rights to own firearms: she publicly states that she thinks he’ll actually do it, according to HuffPost, here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/24/gun-control-carolyn-mccarthy-obama-executive-authority_n_1699641.html
Hey, all you Obama apologists who wrote into this blog over the last few months saying that he didn’t want to interfere with your gun ownership rights…what do you think NOW?
One of our regular blog commentators said recently that he wished I’d get off politics and back to talking about guns. I hear ya, Doc, but the thing of it is…there ain’t much more important “about guns” than the right to acquire, own, and keep them.

  1. Went by the local Cop Shop today talk to a guy I know who works there. It had been awhile since I had been in. I ask if it had been busy the last couple of weeks. He looked at me and laughted and said do you see all the guns with red stickers they are our demos and its the only one we have and we can’t sell them because we won’t have anything to show to anyone. They were almost out of ammo people had been buyingiit by the case. I have been stacking it up for awhile. Bought some more tonight. Plenty of brass, bullets, powder, and primers but gonna buy more when I can. Well Mas you told everybody. My vote went to Romney. Didn’t vote for Obama the first time. Time to hunker down and fight. Remember We The People.

  2. When talking to one of my friends about this whole thing. This was his response. I think he voted for Obama. LOL

Looks like another four years of renaissance times for gun owners to me. Obama’s presidency has resulted in the loosest gun laws since the 1930s AND the NRAs literature has been so alarmist that gun shops are raking it in. Loose gun laws plus “right to carry” laws is most states plus unnecessarily upset gun owners = BIG $$$$ at the cash register.

  3. You were right Mas. I knew it too. I trust Obama, Feinstein et al. as far as I throw the Empire State Building. On My end I’m stocking up on reloading supplies , might buy a few more guns and will continue to vote accordingly.

  4. Feinstein isn’t Obama. McCarthy isn’t Obama. If every president were held against the actions of the chuckleheads in his party, not one would ever be esteemed. This is all smoke and ominous music, and there is nothing tangible behind it. As “Joshua” said earlier (I cannot match this line; it made me spew my early morning coffee): Regarding Carolyn McCarthy: she wants Obama to use executive orders to curtail firearm rights? Whoop-dee-doo. I want Obama to give me a pony. We all want things.

I am no scholar of international law, but from what I read in other places, the furor over the UN small arms treaty is just another example of people looking for black helicopters in the sky.

If you all want to hate Obama, go ahead. But, this sort of exaggeration does not help the 2nd amendment support movement.

  5. Your article was forwarded to me from a friend of a friend. However it is nothing more than an angry rant because it missing a call to action.

What are we as citizens supposed to do to keep our rights..? Voting against Obama is not an option…

  6. Sticking one’s head in the sand and hopefully bleating, “That could never happen here,” because you think whatever “it” is is immoral, illegal or un-Constitutional is not (IMO) a healthy response.
This president has violated constitutional proscriptions, and the law, on numerous occasions without a blip from the congress, the house at least as he owns the senate.
0bummer is a communist/socialist and all of his policies are purposely destructive to us as a nation and as individuals. He threatens our rights, our livelihoods and our hopes for the future of our children.

  7. well guy’s and gal’s there it is nothing to lose so the pres Obama is going to push his real agenda . let’s just hope some one in the house has some , let’s say ball’s . everything this pres want’s need’s congress approval . gun control you need to pass law’s , un treaty you need congress approval . I’m with you mas this guy will try and act like this is chicago . look at what he did to Ken Lewis and bofa , strong armed . I not a conspiracy nut , but I would love to see Trump put some down and prove his belief that Obama was not born here . What happened to this country , where all there is to vote for is these type of people . look at the recent disgrace of General Petraeus , no moral fabric .

  8. The imates (liberals and imbeciles) are running the asylum (United States) and has been for some time now, and we have finally reached the point of no return.

From what I’ve heard on Fox News (I don’t waste my time watching the pro-Obama propaganda on the other so called news channels) it seems that the only way to win future elections is to outbid the other candidates
with free stuff. Since there are now so many legal and illegal immigrants now residing and voting in our country, we must to address their needs to get their vote. If it means making them all citizens/subjects, then so be it. If they want free money, food, cell phones, etc., then give it to them so they’ll vote for you. With so many folks now on the government dole, politicians will have to bribe their constituents to put and keep them in office. Is this really how America should work?

I fear we have reached the tipping point in the balance of power between good and evil. The evil in this case includes those too stupid to think for themselves and vote according to how their favorite actor/actress and sports figures tell them, and the vast majority of these celebrities are left leaning to various degrees, from plain dumb liberal to radically Maxist. One can’t help but feel like they’re beyond hope. The Executive branch is in enemy hands as is the Senate. The U.S. Supreme Court is still on our side, but for how long? Same for the House of Representatives. The vile liberals have bidded their time and patiently over the years indoctrinated most of our kids into being zombies for the Democratic Party, so they are willing to wait us out to take control of the House and SCOTUS. Liberal propaganda meister Michael Moore was unfortunately right when he said several years ago that Americans are the most stupid people in the world and the proof is sitting in the White House now. We know over half the voting public are idiots and the ones who didn’t cast a ballot are their evil accomplices.

By the time of the next presidential election, if there is one, the number of fools will be greater and the wiser ones will be lower due to the older ones croaking in the meantime. I believe Clinton who personally hates Obama, helped him this time because the Dear Leader promised to get Hillary in the Oval Office in 2016. Why else, other than money (Clinton is a lawyer after all) would he endorse the Anointed One and spend so much effort helping him? Maybe HillBilly is hoping the Messiah will give them pardons for past crimes. There’s no statute of limitations on homicide.

If you have any extra money (who does nowadays?), or maybe better stated, money you can spare, buy the hard assets you’re been wanting to get, whether it’s guns, ammo, body armor, reloading supplies, gold/silver, etc. because they will be in short supply and cost more before too long. Also look for things like body armor, long range rifle scopes, night vision devices, and .50 caliber rifles to be banned from civilian ownership, as Uncle Sammoud doesn’t want you to have things that can challenge his royal authority or the imperial stormtroopers charged with enforcing it.

  9. Fruitbat, those are no different in design than my 1911 or my M&P. They’re semi-auto and can only fire as fast as your finger can pull the trigger. The press and certain politicians like to use that term to make these firearms seem more evil. Paul Helmke with the Brady Campaign came up with a new one last year “Assault Clips”. I have no idea what the hell those are either! I guess if I used one to beat you with,it would be considered assault, thus making it an assault clip. Of course I’d have to find one first!

  10. Dale – Technically something like a MAC-10 ‘assault pistol’ is different in design than a 1911. But I agree the labelling is important, though oddly the site I linked to – which doesn’t strike me personally as an anti-gun site – referees to them as ‘assault pistols.’

I *Think* that ‘assault pistols’ had their origin with the quirks of US Firearms law where a firearm with a barrel below a certain length got taxed as if it were a full auto-weapon if it had a shoulder stock on it.

Speaking as a , largely, armchair gunslinger I feel that if something like a DC-9 fitted with a shoulder stock would be a handy carbine for self-defence, the more casual sort of target shooting and some sorts of vermin control; as an ‘assault pistol’ it strikes me more as a lethal novelty than a practical firearm.

And since this post is moving very much OT from the subject of the thread I will wind it up with a completely OT bit of TV Trivia, in seventies TV show about millionaire detective “Matt Houston” the DC-9 was the millionaire’s weapon of choice when he parachuted in to a Caribbean Island to rescue his girlfriend from terrorists. Though in the show I recall it being fired full-auto.

  11. Doh! Correction to my last “Matt Houston” was eighties and not seventies . . . so much for my credibility. 🙂

  12. First of all, if Romney had had the same votes that McCain had in 2008, he’d probably would have won. Problem was people didn’t turn out for him. Part of that was due to a lot of idiots trying to look smart by being above it all, saying they are all the same so why bother. On guns people said that too, and they are likely to be proven wrong. If he proves them wrong the will pour out for the mid-terms.

On using ammo for barter, said it before, ammo is great but how about diversifying? How about fire wood, kerosene, seeds, chickens, grain, keresene stoves and heaters, etc? It would be bad to be secure, and starve and freeze.

Obama wants to destroy the country by bankrupting it. There simply isn’t the money in the world to loan to the US for these trillion dollar deficits. So the Fed is running the presses. When that catches up, it will be hyper inflation. Ammo yes, but how about a rototiller? A bicycle? Stuff to let life go on for your family.

Other thing to ask is, for someone who already has guns (and needs ammo), if they don’t even have ammo what do you think they will have that will be worth battering for?

Col Cooper suggested stockpiling ammo for bartering years ago. That was back before PMC, Fiochi, etc., lowered ammo prices in the 1990’s. A lot of people before then really did just have one box of ammo or even just half a box. Times have changed, and quite frankly, a box of FMJ 223 for trade might not get anything but another box of 223. Now canning jars, matches, rocket stoves, etc., maybe.

  13. agree to tom606 . prob is the hard core right sounds like a bunch of crack pots . that turns off the young voter the hispanics etc. I don’t know about you but I remember the damn 80’s when the gov. let all the illegal’s in . remember that mess . I remember a fed law that fined the crap of companie that hired illegals , what happened there . I live in Texas so I see alot of the crap these illegals bring to the table . cops can’t ask about citizenship , because that’s fed juristiction . fine than stop arresting for federal drug law’s . let’s see how fast the federal gov. starts yelling about that . our local police spend way to much time and effort policing federal law . The way I see it drugs illegal’s go hand in hand with drug traffic . I do feel for the kid’s of illegal’s . next election the republicans need to make sure they watch there mouth’s no more stupid statement’s period . Remember the average joe know’s nothing about the person they voted for , they vote for there favorite flavor . educate the voter on the real issue , this is not a soda or beer comercial . thats how they vote .

  14. Fruitbat44 – Technically yes, ones recoil operated while the other is blowback and in my personal opinion one is much less attractive. The site you linked to is an auction site and it’s all about the sell. I’ve been working in the industry as a gunsmith for the last 30 years off and on and the ignorance of some in the business never ceases to amaze me. Education and training must take precedence over the quick sell if one expects to have a long career in this business.

Pistols like the DC-9 and Mac series are somewhat a novelty for a civilian but in America it’s all about the freedom to own one if your a law abiding citizen.

Ehh I was more of a Magnum PI follower, something about Hawaiian shirts,Ferrari’s and 1911’s ;o)

  15. Mas,

I have completely lost respect for you now.

First, you name the article “OH BUMMER”, very childish and this kind of name calling is exactly why we gun owners get no respect. Instead of raising serious points and convincing people with facts, we throw petty insults instead. Is this mentality that many of you have, working?

Second, as Nate said above, the “brady” quote you took from the NRA site is hogwash to say it nicely.

    Third, you say this…
“Hey, all you Obama apologists who wrote into this blog over the last few months saying that he didn’t want to interfere with your gun ownership rights…what do you think NOW?”

So if I disagree and don’t jump on the bandwagon blindly, I’m an “Obama apologist”? Why is it that to be a gun owner, I have to march lockstep with the right wing talking points and parrot all the cute insults?

You people just don’t get it because you are married to a Republican ideology. I am an independent voter and I don’t vote based on ONE ISSUE. Obama has other things to focus on of a higher priority than gun control. Stop all this silliness which just makes me (and you) pay more for ammo and guns! The way to keep our gun rights is to engage Democrats, YES DEMOCRATS in ADULT discussions about why our gun rights should not be taken away. In case some of you have not noticed, the country is equally divided along party lines and Obama won. The hysteria and rhetoric is not working. Calling him a dictator and socialist is not working. Try a new approach! An adult approach that does not include name-calling or spreading rumors.

  16. Go to the web site for the Communist Party http://www.cpusa.org/
and look into their party idiology. It is the same as the Democrat Party. Democrats are just Communists with a different name to confuse those who can’t be bothered to ‘look behind the curtain’.

That is why the Communist Party hasn’t been running their own people for public office because the Democrats are carrying their water for them.

Obama has been indoctrinated into Communism since he was young. In Hawai’i his friend and mentor, Frank Marshall Davis was a long time Communist Party member.

His maternal grandparents were socialists, maybe also Communists.

In Chicago he had help in getting things done and being introduced to the right people by the father of his chief of staff Valerie Jarret. Her father was also a long time Communist so I would imagine that Valerie is also.

It is a bummer that he was reelected.

To be right wing is to be for the idiology of the Founders who gave us the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Things the Democrats don’t believe in.

  17. Randall, Engaging dems in logical discussions doesn’t work…that’s why Air-America failed. Once challenged on their points (without mainstream media protection) and presented with logic their foolish positions were exposed.

And it is the Libs that are the name callers…ever see all of the reasons they call people racist for disagreeing with the pres? Just a tiny sampling below.

    http://www.boortz.com/weblogs/nealz-nuze/2012/jun/12/s-raaacist/

  18. Randall your right this type of talk drives up price and availability , but becarefull . at one time we actually had 2nd amend rights . than cities decided that people should not have guns only leo’s . now what . we are fighting in some cities just to own a gun . you know like new york , chicago . The gov. can and will break any promise they make . look at all the treaties that have been broken over the past 2 hundred years . As for me I’m a libertarian ( that is not liberal ) that’s a constitutionalist . heck even our so called supreme court does not understand the constuition . Becarefull our elected officials vote can and will be tricked in to votting for thing’s . I’ll vote for your thing if you vote for mine . people are dangerous . look at cuba a promise of a better life . they still live like 1950 peasants .

  19. Mas-I am a Backwoods reader, solar user, and gun rights believer. In my dental practice, I have a refrigerator in our kitchen, upon which I place certain pertinent bumper stickers. One of them has a quote attributed to Adolph Hitler. It reads “This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!” Adolph Hitler, 1935. Is this what our dear “Ruler” has in store for us? When Hitler took the guns away, there were none to fight him with.

  20. When a conservative tries to tell the world what a Democrat is, and what they think and believe, we are always put down, and told that we don’t know what we are talking about.

Well, here is an excellent description of a Democrat, from another Democrat, who should really know exactly who and and what the average Democrat is:

James Carville Says 80% Of Democrats Are Politically Clueless
    October 16, 2012 — The Rat

RESPECTED DEMOCRAT OPERATIVE SPILLS HIS GUTS ON WHAT HE THINKS OF HIS PARTY

    http://mikesright.wordpress.com/2012/10/16/james-carville-says-80-of-democrats-are-politically-cluless/lunapic_135041541289865_1/

James Carville, Democrat political consultant extraordinaire – and former Bill Clinton campaign manager, has astonishingly come out and said what all good Republicans have known for decades: Not only are most Democrats politically clueless; they’re easily manipulated by the puppet masters of their party as well. Wow. James Freaking Carville. Of all people. Here’s an excerpt, as quoted on Amazon.com:

“Ideologies aren’t all that important. What’s important is psychology.

The Democratic constituency is just like a herd of cows. All you have to do is lay out enough silage and they come running. That’s why I became an operative working with Democrats. With Democrats all you have to do is make a lot of noise, lay out the hay, and be ready to use the ole cattle prod in case a few want to bolt the herd.

Eighty percent of the people who call themselves Democrats don’t have a clue as to political reality.

What amazes me is that you could take a group of people who are hard workers and convince them that they should support social programs that were the exact opposite of their own personal convictions. Put a little fear here and there and you can get people to vote any way you want.

The voter is basically dumb and lazy. The reason I became a Democratic operative instead of a Republican was because there were more Democrats that didn’t have a clue than there were Republicans.

Truth is relative. Truth is what you can make the voter believe is the truth. If you’re smart enough, truth is what you make the voter think it is. That’s why I’m a Democrat. I can make the Democratic voters think whatever I want them to.”

Bingo. I couldn’t have written that for ol’ James any better myself. Truth be told, I’ve always had kind of a love-hate relationship with Carville. While I’ve never agreed with him on much of anything – unless he was commenting on the failures of his party, which unlike most political operatives, he’s not been afraid to do through the years – this is different. This amounts to a total confession of what I define in the right sidebar of this blog as the quintessential “political lie”:

Liberals saying things they know aren’t true for the sole purpose of exploiting the “less-than-informed” for political gain.

Bravo, James – and thanks for the validation.

  21. “Dave Says:
Randall, Engaging dems in logical discussions doesn’t work…that’s why Air-America failed. Once challenged on their points (without mainstream media protection) and presented with logic their foolish positions were exposed. And it is the Libs that are the name callers…ever see all of the reasons they call people racist for disagreeing with the pres? Just a tiny sampling below.”

Dave, I respectfully disagree. Yes there are people whom engaging with is impossible. But to suggest that the majority of democratic voters are of that mindset and that we should just throw the idea out and choose belligerency instead, is a suggestion that we have no facts to base the conclusion on.

As for liberals calling names, there is plenty of name calling done by all political persuasions. If I were talking to liberals I would say the same thing to them that I’ve said here. I have heard plenty of conservatives call Obama a “socialist or communist” without obviously knowing what the definition of those words are, because they don’t fit at all the situation.

The thing is, many people on both sides are married to an ideology and thus they cannot see the failings or mistakes of their side because they are blinded to it…like a wife who’s husband beats her up but she makes excuses for him. Same mindset.

Don’t forget also that most politicians are also trained as attorneys and they are not going to ever agree in public with the opposition. That’s how the game is played. We need to engage voters directly thru town halls, ads and other mass media methods. As for Air America, that is a radio show aimed at making money and what it does is no more credible than the Limbaugh show. Bad example, therefore.

Happy shooting sir! May you always hit the bullseye dead center!

  22. Paul Edwards (and everyone else), be careful of that alleged James Carville quote unless and until it is authenticated. I’ve been unable to authenticate it from this end, at this time, and neither has Snopes, which is currently listing it as “probably false.” It is certainly out of character.

    best,
    Mas

  23. The sheeple are blindly following a doctrine of pure insanity. When Obama took office in 2008 gas was $1.95, now it’s $4.00. What on Earth are these sheeple thinking. Obama will absolutely wreck everything and the sheeple think it’s fantastic. And, the media will shape everything in his favor everyday. It’s flabbergasting! I don’t believe in Black Helicopters (yet), but man… I fear that it may not be long and I will. Heaven help us! If things go where I fear, Canada’s gun laws will look outstanding compared to us. At least their Prime Minister is fighting the UN treaty – NOT embracing it!

  24. Enjoy your venison, partridge, pheasant, elk, etc., this year. Watch for NRA updates and remember, we are the country’s best defense. Japan decided not to invade us because they said there was a gun behind every blade of grass. Hang on to your freedom. If things keep going the way they are, we may have to be our own militia. The world’s largest army… America ‘s hunters! I added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:There were over 600,000 huntersthis season in the state of Wisconsin ..Allow me to restate that number:600,000

    Over the last several months,
Wisconsin’s hunters became the eighth largest army in
the world. More men under arms than in Iran. More than France and Germany combined. These men deployed to
the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed. That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan’s 700,000 hunters,
all of whom have now returned home safely. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world.
And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states.
    It’s millions more.

    The point?

America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower. Hunting…
it’s not just a way to fill the freezer. It’s a matter of national
security. That’s why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us
disarmed. Food for thought, when next we consider gun control. Overall it’s true, so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don’t possess the same skills as soldiers, the question would still remain…What army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens??? For the sake of our freedom, don’t ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.

  25. Mas;

    Thanks for the caution.

I did manage to find the same Quote:

Democrat James Carville Says “80% of Democrats Don’t Have a Clue as to Political Reality.”

carried on at least four separate places on the internet, and although I realize that doesn’t prove it’s validity, it is still not just a single posting?

I also tried it on Snopes.com, but nothing returned at all, neither true or false, or possibly false?

I did submit an inquiry with them, to see what they might answer, even though I have noticed that Snopes that been totally wrong in the past, usually on issues related to Obama and the Democrats having done something wrong, or embarrassing, and trying to cover it up?

The real difference here seems to be which side is making the statement.

If the Liberal Democrats make a false statement in any form of media, even knowing it is false before they post it, then all the other Liberals simply “Quote” the original falsehood, as gospel, and no body, least of all in the Talking Head Media, will ever question it, let alone challenge it.

When our side, Conservatives, say or post anything, no matter how true and accurate, then we are called to task on it, almost automatically.

It seems that they, the Liberals, as well as the Talking Heads in the Lame Stream Media always try to hold us to a different and higher standard of truth and accuracy than they themselves normally use in their daily trashing of all things Republican and Conservative?

Anyway, the statement, true or false, does fit the subject, Low Level Democrat Voters, much better than the glove fit O.J. Simpson, during his murder trial.

  26. “Forward!”

That’s what the leader of the clueless lemmings shouted, as he led from behind, the dumb herd rushing towards the edge of the Fiscal Cliff. But the leader was too wise to plunge to his destruction with his devoted
    “Useful Idiots”.
